Physicians Aid Association

Physicians Helping Physicians

You are here Donate

Physicians Aid Association has survived since its inception through the sole support of private contributions from individuals.

No contribution is too large or too small; every donation makes a considerable difference in supporting our Physicians through times of crisis.

In recent years, PAA has been the beneficiary of trusts and bequests from grateful physicians or family members of physicians. Many of whom were once assisted financially by PAA’s ability to provide them with assistance for basic living needs.

Please consider including Physicians Aid Association in your estate planning and in your annual charitable contributions. Your generous gifts can be made with cash, checks, credit cards, trusts, annuities, property and or insurance policies.

A Message From Our President

Physicians Aid Association was founded by my grandmother, Elizabeth Mason Hohl, M.D. to help Los Angeles County physicians in need. Since that time we have been privileged to provide assistance to hundreds of physicians and/or their families in our area.

The generosity of supporters like you has made it possible to provide short-term financial support to physicians and their families for basic living necessities like food and shelter for the last eighty years. In addition we provide funds to four Los Angeles county medical schools to be used at the discretion of the schools administrators to assist their student doctors in dire financial need.

It may be surprising, but many of these students have needed help with the costs of healthcare due to serious illness. Our economy and the vicissitudes of life continue to bring about challenges for some of our colleagues who are facing difficult times and struggling with health issues and marginal living situations.

Time, aging and unforeseen occurrences may befall any of us. "There but for the grace of God go I". Physicians who feel they may qualify for assistance are encouraged to contact us for additional information. All applicants are treated respectfully and confidentially. We are especially gratefully for our donors who through their compassion and generosity make our mission of "Physicians Helping Physicians" possible.

Thank you for your continued support.
William M. Hohl, MD President,
Board of Directors
